Fake showers - Dialysis Tips

I am the kind of person who loves to take a shower in the morning.  It’s like my cup of coffee – it wakes me up and helps me get going!  However, with my catheter, it’s not as convenient to take a shower every day.

I like to take a shower only on the days I have dialysis.  This helps limit the chances of getting my catheter wet.  Getting it wet could lead to an infection.  Each treatment day the nurse replaces the catheter bandage with a new one.  If I get the bandage damp, I know it will get replaced that same day.

On days I don’t take a shower, I still want to get clean and feel refreshed.  I bought these great wipes called “Wipes for Your Life” with a mint scent (other scents are available).  The wipes are very large, and the smell is great.  I feel like I stepped out of the shower after I’m done.  Highly recommend getting a wipe for in between shower days.   Baby wipes really didn’t work well. You need something made specifically for adults.

It would be nice to put them in a baby wipe warmer for the colder months, but the coldness is also a wake-up call.
